During the press conference on August 5th, Ryan Condal confirmed that the writing team is currently working on season 3, slated to begin filming in early 2025.
Condal emphasized that the storytelling cadence established in season 2, which wrapped up on August 4th, will continue in the upcoming seasons, and the exact number of episodes for season 3 is yet to be determined.
Building Toward the Battle
One of the key highlights of the upcoming seasons is the Battle of the Gullet, a pivotal event in Fire & Blood, the book that House of the Dragon is based on. Condal addressed why this battle was not included in the season 2 finale, explaining that they wanted to give it “the time and space it deserves.”
He shared that when the battle does take place, it will be the most significant action sequence the show has delivered so far, promising fans an unforgettable experience that justifies the wait.
